The No. 104 Universal Bevel Gear Tester is used for testing the funning qualities, as well as tooth spacing and concentricity, of bevel and hypoid gears. A unique feature of the 104 Angular Hypoid Tester is the pivot construction of the drive head, which is used during the rolling test for obtaining a composite check of tooth spacing, profile shape and eccentricity. A calibrated spring provides any desired pressure between the two mating gears from 0 - 5 pounds. An electric brake is provided to give a fine, uniform control of the amount of load applied to the driven spindle during the power running test. Gears are tested in this machine by running them together in pairs, or running one member with a master or sample mate.
